Hello everyone! I’m excited to share that I’m currently working on some behind-the-scenes updates to our website. While you won’t see any visual changes, I’m introducing a new download method for my Skyrim mods. This new method will apply to both public and exclusive mods and will affect downloads from both Google Drive and my server. Here are the details:
| Google Drive | ┃ | TalesOfStar Server | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Public mods | Exclusive mods | ┃ | Public mods | Exclusive mods | ||
| All-in-one folder, Request to access (all history versions) | Request to access, benefits remain even if you cancel your subscription (all history versions) | ┃ | A single key to access all, but no history versions | 1 mod has 1 unique key. Keys will be sent to you via Patreon message | ||
*The changes will take effect starting today, thanks to everyone who voted in the Discord polls.
This will ensure that both public and exclusive mods are better organized and still easily accessible. Plus, you’ll be able to download them at maximum speed, powered by the world’s most advanced CDNs from Google Cloud and Cloudflare.
Additionally, I’ve expanded the content offerings for Prowler and Penguin members by including my Skyrim Modlist on my blog. Please consider it as extra content, and feel free to reach out to me through Discord chat; I’m willing to answer any mods-related questions you may have.
In the future, an email/password system could be added to the website, with a new database and authentication system. *I’m still experimenting with this one.
You may still have questions, such as: What’s behind the changes? Why do we need a key to download? Why set barriers when you can have more impressions and gains with open access? Why restrict access when you can unlock more possibilities with open doors? By removing the key requirement, you can tap into a wider audience and increase engagement with your mods. It’s a win-win: more users get to enjoy your creations, and you get more visibility and feedback to improve and grow. But, why?… Let’s just say that there are things we both cherish, but a few bad apples are trying to spoil the bunch. What can we do? I hope these negative forces don’t undermine the good things we’re trying to build.
That’s about it.
Thanks for believing in me and my work! Good day.
